In addition to the Toolbox talks, MAPIC can provide detailed safety and health training on various topics at either Contractor offices or our training conference room at the MAPIC office. Our training center is certified through the Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board (OCILB) of the Ohio Department of Commerce. The OCILB requires mechanical and plumbing contractors in the state of Ohio to attend 10-hours of continuing education in business, code, technology or safety.
For those topics that require actual in-field hands-on training (e.g., permit-required confined space entry), we have networked with various local training providers to offer our Contractors discounted rates for quality programs. Details on some of the programs we provide are presented below. A schedule of training is also included.
OSHA 10-HOUR+ CONSTRUCTION OUTREACH
TRAINING PROGRAM
Meet your OSHA obligation to provide general safety and health awareness to your employees
What?
The Construction Outreach Program is a course designed by OSHA to provide general safety and health awareness to construction employees. This course provides an overview of the topics presented, detailing those areas that we feel are important to pipefitters and plumbers.Who?
This course is recommended for all employees. Apprentices will gain the entry-level knowledge they need; journeypersons will be able to focus on subjects they feel need strengthening; foremen and superintendents will understand supervisory responsibilities. Why?
There were 1,226 construction-related deaths in the U.S. in 2006. The total number of cases in which employees were away from work in 2005 for 1 or more days because of non-fatal injury or illness was 157, 100. Training has long been recognized as a key in minimizing incidents. When?
The next course is scheduled for October 15, 22, and 29, 2007, from 5pm - 9pm at the MAPIC Conference Room. How?
The course is taught in three 4-Hour Modules. The class is traditionally taught at our Conference Room, but can be brought to your office upon request (call for me details on this option). Each attendee completing the 10-Hour+ course will receive a Certificate of Completion from MAPIC and an OSHA wallet card. See the Module topics below.Cost?
There is no cost for plumbers and pipefitters whose employers are contributing to the industry funds (MCI or CPI) on their behalf, or for management personnel of those companies; a cost of $50.00 per person would apply to all others.Course Contents
